Love was definitely in the air on Tuesday 13th February in the stunning Art Deco bar of the Hotel Mediterraneo when the international community gathered together to celebrate our adopted country. WE LOVE ITALY 2024 raised πŸ’— β‚¬4,500 πŸ’— for a restoration project at Museo Nazionale Romano. MNR Director Prof StΓ©phane Verger was present to thank the assembled company. Now the work begins to find exactly the right piece to restore.

The funds raised at last year’s event, also at the Hotel Mediterraneo, are supporting the restoration of stunning 2,000 year old gold funerary artefacts from the so-called Tomba degli Ori in Narce, part of the collection belonging to the Museo Nazionale Etrusco di Villa Giulia (see here for more). Previous events have contributed to the restoration of the Statues of the Confraternita of S. Maria degli Angeli, Gallipoli; the Edicola in Via Frate Elia, Assisi; the Loggia di Galatea, Villa Farnesina, Rome (event); the columns of the Small Cloister, Certosa di Capri, Capri (event); the Kylix by the painter of Euaion, ETRU (event) and the “Marine Thiasus” sarcophagus in Galleria Corsini, Rome.

Thanks to our wonderful guests for their support; to our venue sponsor Bettoja Hotel Mediterraneo, to our beverage sponsor Castello di Corbara and to our supporting sponsors: First Med and Laura Mantovi and Mia Carmen and to Camilla Donati for the use of her art.
