Owner and Manager of the proceedings

The data controller of personal data is the organization LoveItaly, having its registered office at via Marsala 29H, Rome, Italy (“owner”).  The person responsible for the processing of personal data is the Vice President.

Treatment of Data and Data Retention

Data are collected electronically and processed by logging operations, consultation, communication, retention and deletion. Data are collected predominantly with the aid of electronic instruments, ensuring the use of appropriate measures for the security of data handled and guaranteeing its confidentiality. User data, stored in electronic form, are collected and stored on a server owned by LoveItaly. In particular, the holder declares that the data recorded on the server are protected against the risk of intrusion and unauthorized access and have adopted appropriate security measures to ensure the integrity and availability of data and the protection of the areas and locations relevant to their case and accessibility. The personal data will be processed by employees and/or employees of the LoveItaly acting as managers or processors, within their respective functions and in accordance with the instructions given by the controller, in compliance with law 196/2003 and of the provisions set out in this document. LoveItaly guarantees the highest level of safety in the management of user data.

Data collection and processing

We obtain information from you when you type in your personal details (i.e. when making a donation, signing up for the newsletter, making an enquiry etc.).  The information we collect from you is dependent on the activities you are carrying out on our website. We may collect the following data from you:

  • Your contact details – required to fulfil donations e.g. name, address, telephone number and email addresses.
  • Your purchase information e.g. credit card details – exclusively processed by our payments gateway Stripe and PayPal (Terms & Conditions ‘Security Policy’)
  • We may sometimes ask you to take part in surveys that we use for research purposes, to improve customer experience – although you are not obliged to respond to them.

The main purposes for collecting and storing certain personal information are as follows:

  • Donation processing
  • Reward delivery
  • Payment authorisation and billing
  • Crowdfunding promotions/offers

You can view and change your personal details held by us by logging in to your account, if you have made one. You may also contact us directly to find out this information. We will contact you with marketing content where relevant. If at any time you wish to stop receiving our newsletter, you can click the unsubscribe link included in the footer of every email campaign sent. Alternatively, you can contact us directly at ciao@loveitaly.org to request removal.

Third Party

We will never sell your personal information onto third parties, but we do share customer information with third parties to fulfil orders and improve our services as detailed below:

  • Stripe and PayPal to process and authorise card payments, completing orders securely.
  • Mailchimp to maintain our newsletter subscribers and generate purposeful marketing content.

By making a donation on the website, you are consenting to LoveItaly sharing the necessary personal information with these third parties to process your donation as stated, to banks, credit card companies and couriers. Some of these selected third parties may be in countries outside of the European Union.

Payment methods are either via PayPal or Stripe, our 3rd party card payment gateway.

No data relating to electronic payments is passed through, or stored by LoveItaly.
