“Italy needs to focus on its inestimable cultural heritage. The Italian territory is of universal value and, as such, everyone is called to contribute.”
Professor Richard Hodges, President Emeritus, The American University of Rome, President of LoveItaly.
LoveItaly is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of Italy’s unique cultural heritage and the world’s greatest living museum. The association is the first of its kind to support conservation projects throughout Italy.
LoveItaly was founded in 2014 by LVenture Group, a holding company quoted on the Italian Stock Market that participates in digital start-up businesses, and a group of enthusiasts from diverse professional backgrounds who are passionate about Italy’s cultural heritage and seek to make the conservation of Italy’s outstanding artistic treasures their main focus. The initial font of inspiration came from the archaeological and conservation consultancy work of Richard Hodges, one of the founding Members of LoveItaly, President Emeritus of the American University of Rome, an Executive Committee Member of the Herculaneum Conservation Project and Counsel to the Packard Humanities Institute.
LoveItaly operates in collaboration with Italian ministries, superintendents for Italian monuments, fine arts and museums, local and national authorities, church leaders and higher institutions of learning including Italian and international universities and academies. The institutions with whom we have established a stable and profitable relationship for the projects that we have in common are:
- Superintendence of Pompeii
- Villa Farnesina and the Lincean Academy of Rome
- National Institute for Conservation and Restoration (ISCR) of Rome
- National Gallery of Ancient Art in the Corsini Palace in Rome
- Sapienza University of Rome
- International Friends of the Certosa of Capri
- Pinacoteca of San Severino Marche
- Basilica di Saint Anthony of Padoa
- American Federation of Arts
Our objective is not only to reach the millions of visitors coming to Italy but also the countless number of people worldwide who are passionate about Italian history and culture. We use a crowdfunding platform, the most powerful and innovative tool available to better connect with local and international communities. By implementing new forms of communications we can reach out and engage new audiences. Additionally, we have set-up mechanisms to accept private and corporate funding in Italy but also through our 501(c)3 organization in the United States, American Friends of LoveItaly.
Alongside our primary function to raise funds, our role as an association is to coordinate the various players involved in our projects, such as the above-mentioned institutions, experts, donors, patrons, specialized operators, fund raising and public relations professionals and all people passionate about Italy. We are consistently and thoroughly focused on the importance of our communications in furtherance of transparency, recognition, sharing and civic partnership.
LoveItaly is grateful for the generous support received over the years from: LVentureGroup, Hogan Lovells, The Packard Humanities Institute, The Samuel H. Kress Foundation.
